Prolific is a survey website. It’s definitely legitimate and not a scam. I have used it for quite a while now and have made over £100 only by taking surveys.

(I made a Youtube video about it if you’d like to check it out!)

Prolific surveys are a little different to the kind of surveys you complete on other Survey providers; Prolific surveys come from academic institutions, so the kind of questions you answer generally form part of a university research project; as such, they are often about things like human behaviour, how you make decisions, etc..

When you sign up as an new user, you will be asked questions about your personal, financial, romantic situation. You may also be asked questions such as your religion, race, sexuality, etc.. That gives them an idea of what kind of Surveys you may be interested in and only send you those that relate to you and your situation.

That usually takes no longer than 10 minutes to complete (that’s how long it took me to complete it all, pretty easy and straightforward).

There is a section “ABOUT YOU” on Prolific which, every now and again, questions appear that need answering; that, again, helps the website find Surveys that are of your interest.

Once you are in, you are not going to see surveys right away, you should start seeing surveys coming through after a day or two. It took a day for surveys to appear on my dashboard, so don’t panic if you don’t see any surveys when you log in!

I usually receive an email when a new survey becomes available for me to take, so you don’t need to constantly check for new surveys.

Only a limited number of people will be able to take the Survey (usually researchers are looking for a particular number of participants so when that number is reached the survey becomes no longer available) so the faster you are to take it the better it is for you.

If, for any reason, you can’t take the survey in that exact moment, you can click on “Reserve place” at the bottom of the survey, you’ll then be given 10 minutes to start the study. If you still haven’t taken the survey after 10 minutes then you will lose your reservation and someone else will take it.

Just a heads-up, I personally check daily for new surveys on my dashboard as sometimes, when I receive the notification via email, all the places have already been taken.

Be sure to read all questions carefully and provide quality responses. Some studies will have attention checks thrown in, and if you answer these wrong, you may lose out on your earnings. Giving low-quality answers can have the same effect.

The rates for surveys on Prolific are pretty decent.

They recommend researchers to pay participants at least £7.50/$9.60 per hour, while the minimum pay allowed is £5.00/$6.50 per hour.

You need to provide PayPal account details so you can be paid for the surveys you complete.

It might take up to 5 days for you money to reach your Paypal account so just keep that in mind when you need to withdraw.

You can request a payout once your earnings reach £5.

I like doing Prolific surveys. They’re more interesting than other surveys, and contributing to scientific research. It’s a no-brainer to get involved if surveys are your thing, and the ones here are far more fun to do than most. I would also like to say you’re not going to get rich doing Prolific surveys, but signing up will earn you some pocket money. The rates are also better than average so why not give this a go?
